Operation Medicine Cabinet: Medical Collection Event Offers Leon County Residents an Opportunity to Safely Dispose of Unused and Expired Prescriptions or Medications
On Saturday, April 4th, the Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc. (SWIX), in partnership with several community leaders, will hold a collection event for unwanted or unneeded medications (both over the counter and prescription).

Saturday, April 4: 11 AM – 3 PM
Walgreen’s located at 100 E Magnolia Drive, Tallahassee, Florida.
Purpose and benefits of medical collection:
This collection event will provide City of Tallahassee/Leon County citizens the opportunity to properly dispose of their unused or unneeded medications, protecting the environment and lessening the chances for the illegal and potentially harmful use of these drugs.

keep medicine in original container
keep labels on containers
cross through personal information
We cannot accept:
sharps (these may be brought to Leon County Dept. of Health – 1515 Old Bainbridge Rd.)
medical waste
thermometers
About the Southern Waste Information eXchange:
The Southern Waste Information eXchange, Inc. (SWIX), a non-profit 501(c)(3), has as a primary objective the recycling and reuse of solid and hazardous waste. Since its inception in 1981, the emphasis of the SWIX has been on encouraging and facilitating sound environmental and cost-effective alternatives to the landfilling, incineration or treatment of solid waste through direct interaction with waste generators in both the public and private sectors.
